In the Beginning...

Founded in 2003 by Andrew Browne, Precept Wine is the 2nd largest and fastest growing wine company in the Northwest (and largest privately owned). Based in Seattle, Precept Wine has built a portfolio of premium wines from the Northwest and beyond that appeal to consumers and trade audiences alike.

Over the course of eight years, Precept Wine has evolved into an integrated wine company that owns more than 3,700 vineyard acres, employs a team of winemakers at seven production facilities and operates seven tasting rooms.

1980 - The Baty Family acquires Columbia Winery (founded in 1958) and moves it to its current home in Woodinville, WA

1980-2001 - Columbia Winery grows and acquires Covery Run, Paul Thomas, Ste Chappelle and Sawtooth wineries becoming Corus Brands and the 2nd largest Washington wine Company - led by President/CEO Andrew Browne

2001 - Corus Brands acquired by Constellation Brands (the Baty Family maintains its 2,400+ acres of vineyard property)

2002 - Andrew Browne and Dan Baty reunite to launch Precept Wine

2003-2010 - Precept Wine developes into the largest privately owned wine company in Washington

2003: "WASHINGTON HILLS Wine Brand Acquired by PRECEPT" - Puget Sound Business Journal (PSBJ)
2006: "PRECEPT, MAGNIFICENT WINE COMPANY Toast a Deal with Mass Appeal" - PSBJ
2006: "PRECEPT Buys WATERBROOK" - Wine Spectator
2008: "PRECEPT'S Bold Move: Seattle Company's New Winery Will Boost Walla Walla Production" - PSBJ

2010 - Precept Wine merges wtih the Baty Family's Corus Estates & Vineyards and expands its portfolio to include Idaho and Oregon wines, vineyards and facilities.

2011 - Precept Wine acquires Canoe Ridge & Sagelands wineries and vineyard from Diageo
