Famous German winemaker Gerhard Grans, owner of the Leiwen based Grans-Fassian Estate, has created a Riesling at its best. The Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region is not only the largest Riesling growing region in the world, it is also the region where Riesling displays all the finesse and struktur (or structure)... The soil of the mainly steep slops in the region is typically slate, which can be found in many variations, which is base for the minerally character of Struktur Riesling.
